You must (a) adhere to APA style, (b) use appropriate headings within the assignment, and (c) place the full APA-style bibliographic reference at the end of the assignment.
Summarize. Summarize the case that you read. Be sure you include the author’s main points and relevant supporting details. Here, you’re showing me you read and processed the case study and supplemental content (1 paragraph).
Reflect. Reflect on the case you read by (a) making conceptual connections with course material (lecture & textbook) and (b) demonstrating integration with current or prior knowledge on the topic. Here, you’re digging a little deeper and may even apply your own personal experiences or reactions to the readings in the context of the course (1-2 paragraphs).
Discuss. Prepare a discussion question to show you’ve critically thought about the case. Good discussion questions are challenging to write and require a bit of cognitive processing (which is why you might want to complete the summary and the reflection first). When you read, critically analyze the material and come up with a thoughtful discussion question. The DQ is not a test question, so do not simply ask your reader to define terms or regurgitate facts. Your DQ would take a discussion beyond the reading—i.e., questioning unfounded claims, theories, hypotheses, methods, results; considering broader implications of the findings; making connections to other material; wrestling with contradictions between the cases and other course material; positing ideas for future inquiry) (about 1 paragraph). In your response, provide context for the question (3-4 sentences) and then pose your question. You must (a) adhere to APA style, (b) use appropriate headings within the assignment, and (c) place the full APA-style bibliographic reference at the end of the assignment.
