In groups assigned by the instructor research and find a topic related to current technology, scientific, human,
social, business, or economic problems. Write a 500- to 750-word paper that includes the following:
•Research the historical, social, professional, ethical, and legal aspects of your discipline. Identify a problem facing the world today and create a problem statement. The problem statement should be objective, backed by statistics, clear, and concise. The problem scope and affected population(s) should be inherent to the problem statement. A problem statement is usually one or two sentences in which you explain the problem your process improvement project will address. In general, a problem statement will outline the negative points of the current situation and explain why this matters.
• Rationale: Analyze the social and professional contexts of your discipline. Provide a one-paragraph explanation for why the topic is important, both to the team and to the profession, as well as its effect(s) on the professional and ethical environments.
•Vision Statement: Include a version of the world where the problem remains unsolved, as well as a version of the world if the problem were to be solved.
• Metrics: Identify measurable factors that affect the problem and show the severity of the problem. These are the metrics that will show when the problem is solved or that it has not been solved.
• Data Acquisition Plan: Determine how the data on the measurable factors can be gathered for future analysis. (Do not gather the data for this assignment. However, define how and where this data can be gathered; this information will be used in Topic 6.)
