New Airport in Mexico City, project rationale and benefits (why is this project worth developing?)

For your Final Presentation, your group will be playing the role of a developer for a resource or infrastructure project. Let’s imagine that you’ve taken over the project from another developer who may or may not have prioritized environmental considerations.

Your goal will be to make a case for the development of your project while minimizing its environmental impacts. Your project should be based on a real-world example, either past, current, or proposed, although you are welcome to recommend changes to the original project to reduce environmental impacts.
Consistent with a project townhall meeting, this presentation should be geared towards an audience of general public and project stakeholders. The goal of your presentation is to summarize potential environmental impacts and mitigation measures for the proposed project. Presentations should address the following topics: project description (background information on the project), project rationale and benefits (why is this project worth developing?), potential impacts (what are the potential environmental risks and effects associated with the project over its lifetime?), and mitigation measures (how will you manage and limit environmental impacts?
You should draw on references relevant to your project, project type, or project location (e.g. project documents, news updates, studies around environmental impacts or mitigation strategies for similar projects). Make sure to reference all sources, and feel free to use visuals from your source materials.
The Final Presentation will be evaluated base on project rationale and benefits.
The topic we have chosen is Mexico City Texcoco Airport
The question I need to do the presentation on is Project Rationale and Benefits (why is this project worth developing?
In terms of profit level and how it can help the environment.
Below is some information regarding the Mexico City’s airport, and why is it worth it to become more sustainable:
Airport in Mexico city
This proposal was rejected because of environmental concerns. So we would say we took over the project and redesigned to mitigate environmental concerns
Our goal with taking over is to minimize environmental impactful while making a case for redevelopment
The new airport was meant to be built on a lake that has run dry. So there’s been some articles written to have the airport and also regenerate the areas surrounding it.
