Your Own Narrative about Gender as a System of Social Practices that Produces Gender Inequality

3. Your Own Narrative about Gender as a System of Social Practices that Produces Gender Inequality (5 pages plus references, double-spaced, 12 pitch type),

Drawing from course material and other sources, write your own narrative about the impact of gender framing and gender as a system of social practices that creates gender inequality in your own life and your future. Your narratives, of course, are likely to be different from each other, so you may choose what is relevant for you to discuss. You might, though, in your narratives discuss such things as how the system of gender relations has affected your understanding of yourself and your relations with others around you over the course of your life, whether there were turning points, if any, that shaped your understanding of gender relations or whether you have been relatively oblivious to how these influences may have shaped or constrained you, what opportunities were available to you or denied to you because of the system of gender as a social frame, how gender relations might have contributed to choices you made about activities, schooling, personal relationships, career goals, and future aspirations, and how the work-family interface has or is anticipated to affect your future. You may also want to discuss how the effects on you of gender as a system of social practices have been filtered through your culture, family, religion, work experiences, work organizations, and in society as a whole. In other words, what do you know about gender as a system of social relations, in what circumstances did you learn it, if at all, and what have been the effects on your life?
