Looking at the early civilizations in Chapter One of Culture and Values, choose one work of visual art, sculpture, or architecture; one work of literature—Gilgamesh (required); one early religion—Ancient Egypt (required)–and explain how the work of art, the
work of literature, and the early religion illustrate that its culture was civilized and could legitimately be called a civilization.
