COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Establish the foundation in understanding the function and structure of effective report writing within the criminal justice field.
The student will be able to explain various elements of the nature of report writing, the mechanics of report writing, and the modernization of report writing.
The student will engage in discussions about reporting forms, worksheets, and reports, including a sample forensic lab report and presentence investigation report.
Create and organize an archive of work completed in this and other courses at Berkeley College. Design and create a “presentation e-portfolio” that showcases 1) information about his/her career interests and goals, 2) evidence of his/her abilities in written communication and information literacy documented with examples of work from the archive, and (optional) 3) learning and experiences from college and community activities.
Develop skills in written communication and draft and revise a cover letter and a professional resume of a quality sufficient for use in a job application. Save to the archive.
Develop and demonstrate information literacy and job search and application skills through multiple experiences including 1) by conducting specified research on potential job opportunities appropriate for their major, 2) searching for and finding job openings meeting certain criteria, and 3) drafting materials to support job applications. Draft and revise a set of personal and career goals that connect the learning needed to reach goals to the courses required in the degree program and co-curricular activities. Save to the archive.
