Your essay should include:
• A strong introduction with a good hook (something that draws the reader in) and some
background on the issue to lead the reader to your thesis statement.
• A clear thesis statement: the answer to your research question which is now a well-defined idea
of WHAT THIS PAPER IS ABOUT and states YOUR POSITION. Your thesis statement is based on
what you have learned through your research and is taking a clear stance.
• Strong organization and outline, with your key points moving in a logical order, and always
relating to your thesis statement.
• At least Three academic sources, but you can use more if needed. You can also use other sources
that are non-academic as supplements, however these still need to be professional and relevant
(no Wikipedia, etc.). Your sources need to be relevant to your research, used well, and I should
see a good use of summary, paraphrasing, quoting, and integrating of your sources into your own
ideas.
• A strong conclusion that sums up your main points, and contains a call to action, a future
prediction, that reinforces your argument, or leaves the reader with a strong thought, warning,
recommendation, hope or idea.
• Your paper should have CLEAR APA citations throughout the body of your work, using in-text
citations, strong ATRIBUTION (letting the reader know who is saying what—is this YOUR idea, or
an idea from your SOURCE), and clearly indicate where all your outside ideas, quotes, research,
etc. came from.
• EVERY SENTENCE (YES EVERY SENTENCE) WITH SOURCE MATERIAL USED (AS A QUOTE or A
PARAPHRASE or AN IDEA or A SUMMARY) MUST HAVE A CITATION.
• Your paper should have a Reference page—located on a separate page—which lists all your
sources in alphabetical order, in APA format.
• Purchasing a paper, having someone write your paper, using a translator, copy/paste writing, too
many quotes and not enough of YOUR writing, copy/pasting and changing the words, etc. will
result in an instant ZERO!

o 12pt Times New Roman font
o 1” margins all four sides
o Double spacing (including block quotes)
o Indented paragraphs, no line between paragraphs
• DO not include a title page. Instead, on the FIRST PAGE ONLY, on the far left side, type—single
spaced: Your Name; Class and Section; For: Teacher Name; Due Date
• Below the paper info: Title of paper centered, not bold or underline, before start of writing
• You will submit this paper as a PDF (I have provided instructions on Moodle)
• Ensure you are sending the correct file and not a draft the first time, as you will only have one
opportunity to submit your work!
