History of  Religion and Society in Latin America

 This course introduces you to the politics of Christianity in twentieth-century Latin America in three 
ways. Important primary and secondary sources will be discussed in this course, from foundational documents 
of the Cold War to the screeds of Catholic traditionalists and the theological arguments of liberationists, 
from chapters from awardwinning historical monographs to important recent theological arguments.
The course will take an interdisciplinary approach to the studies of RELIGION AND SOCIETY in LATIN AMERICA
and explain an aspect of the history of Christianity in Latin America that we did not understand before.
    This courrse will also analyze key aspects of the relationships between Christianity and politics in 
twentieth century Latin America.
