Our food choices may embody our religious beliefs, ethnicity, social class, moral and ethical behaviors, and other manifestations. Ideas are not limited to: religious practice or cultural cuisine, way of eating (for health reasons), holiday rituals, etc.
Step 1: Using at least 400 but no more than 550 words, write an essay using addressing the following prompts:
1. Select one area in which your food choices are based on one of the following reasons above. Keep in mind that you should not share anything that you do not feel comfortable sharing with others. While I am the only person reading your essay, you should maintain your own level of comfortability.
2. Briefly share with the the history or background behind your food as identity choice from at least 1-2 reliable source(s). Do not use food blogs, websites that sell products, fundraise or promote an agenda other than facts in your essay. This also includes Wikipedia, dictionaries, or encyclopedias. Please see how to cite appropriately in APA below using the links provided to you.o If you engage in a way of eating due to religious or cultural reasons, discuss the history and reasoning behind the food choices and feeding behaviors.
• If you engage in a way of eating due to health concern, discuss the history of the illness and the rationale behind the food choices.
3. Briefly discuss your thoughts, feelings, and actions in response to your stated food as identity choice. How were you introduced to it? Do you consider it a choice that you engage in willingly? What practices do you engage in, what is your commitment level, what are your derived benefits and hardships?

Step 3: Review your essay to make sure that you:
• Used basic college level writing skills that are not limited to:
• 1 inch margins and double spacing
• Indented paragraphs
• Simple and concise sentences
• English capitalization rules (click here to learn more)
• Mechanics for punctuation and grammar o Limit the use of contractions unless necessary
• Limit the use of direct quotes to less than 10% of your paper. Make sure to paragraph the information instead and cite.
• Cite any resources used including the assigned readings within within your essay and at the end. If you looked it up, please cite it.
• Answered each of the prompts and provided examples that demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and application.
• Your work must be your own work and using your own words. Incidents of using of relying ideas that are not your own is plagiarism and will result in a zero (0).
Reviewed the grading rubric for the assigned essay.
