Write an expository paper (a paper that explains) about ancient Greek philosophy. Assume the persona of an ancient Greek “advice columnist.” Provide four “letters” from a heart-broken lover, a concerned parent, a confused teen, a cheating spouse, or any other situation that you would like to use which warrants advice. You will then write a response that reflects your understanding of each one of the four main schools of Ancient Greek philosophy. Here is a primer to help you get started. Your response should reflect the values, philosophy, and world-view of this school of philosophy. Write one responses to each “letter.” When you are finished, you will have four letters seeking advice. You will have one response for each letter. Each response will reflect the philosophy of one of the four main schools of ancient Greek philosophy. One response to one letter will be from the Stoic school of philosophy, while another will be from the Epicurean school, the next, from the Cynic school, and the last one from the Skeptic school. All together, all four responses should add up to the word count minimum stipulated in the requirements for these assignments. If you have choose this option, provide a brief introduction/overview of the four philosophies, ending with a thesis statement such as, “These letters will demonstrate the perspectives of the four main ancient Greek philosophical schools.” Include a conclusion that summarizes the role of ancient Greek philosophy in the lives of the ancient Greeks.
