This is my research question: How does implementing nurse staffing ratios affect patient outcomes and nurse job satisfaction in hospitals?
This is what my paper is about:
The Humanistic Nursing Theory, created by Loretta Zderad and Josephine Paterson, will serve as the theoretical framework for the research. According to this theory, the nurse-patient relationship is crucial and can have a positive effect on the patient’s health and wellbeing. This theory proposes that nursing care should be patient-centered, emphasizing the individuality of each patient’s experience and aiming to meet the patient’s needs and objectives (Wolf & Bailey, 2013).
The significance of the connection between the nurse and the patient is emphasized by the humanistic nursing theory. It acknowledges the distinctive human experiences of every person as well as the nurse’s role in assisting the patient on their path to health and wellbeing. Incorporating the patient’s values, beliefs, and preferences into their treatment plan is another priority emphasized by the theory, which also emphasizes patient-centered care (Paterson & Zderad, 1976).
It makes sense to incorporate the Humanistic Nursing Theory to this study that examines the relationship between nurse staffing ratios and patient outcomes. The idea can be applied to research how the quality of the nurse-patient interaction, a crucial aspect of patient-centered care, is affected by staffing ratios (Wolf & Bailey, 2013). Researchers can gain a better understanding of how nurse staffing ratios affect patient outcomes and nurse job satisfaction by investigating this relationship.
The Humanistic Nursing Theory offers an effective framework for carrying out research that puts the patient’s experience first and emphasizes the nurse’s contribution to the patient’s journey to health and wellbeing (Wolf & Bailey, 2013).
