also this is the instructions and the questions I have to answer:
STRATEGIC MEDIA MANAGEMENT CASE STUDY (individual; 30 points, including interview)
Every student will conduct individual research and present a strategic media management case study of an entertainment firm, e.g. a film studio, TV network, streaming audio or video platform, talent agency, game publisher, or music label/group.
You will be prompted in advance to list one option from each category but may not be guaranteed your first or fifth choice since many of you want the same firms. You will be asked to deliver and discuss an outline and draft in advance. You are to present this case study in Canva (length TBD).
Your RQ is: How has (your firm) managed disruption? You must list this RQ at the beginning of every outline and draft and repeat the RQ before your SMM analysis
You MUST conduct an interview with someone currently working in the firm at manager level or above. DO NOT rely solely on your interview for your data or analysis.
Your research should discuss these topic:
What type of company? What is their value proposition? mission statement?
What happened in terms of management in the past 2 years, e.g. acquisitions, mergers, fires/hires, product launches, reorgs, etc.
Who owns the company? If a conglomerate, where does the company fit within the larger conglomerate structure? If a conglomerate, what divisions and firms do they own? If a single company, list at least 5 departments.
Who runs the company? List 3 executives most involved in managing disruptions, including bios, press coverage, and key management decisions.
What is the culture of the company and has it changed? This must include a “DEIA report” in which you compare the diversity of the company and their DEIA initiative (if any) to the demographics of their clients, consumers, subscribers, audiences, etc.
How much is the company worth? You should produce original charts that look at the stock value (if available), profit/loss statements, any other relevant data like TOTAL number of media products and their box office, ratings, subscriptions, etc.
Walk us through one of their recent products or services from inception to reception, if a recent client, then take us from signing to any deals.
Repeat the RQ and conduct SMM analysis based on Küng’s frameworks and the data above:
How do they manage technological, industrial, economic, socio-cultural disruption?
How do they foster creativity and innovation?
What makes their corporate culture, mindset, and strategy unique?
What distinguishes their organizational structure and strategy? and
What kind of leadership strategy have they embraced?
