For this assignment, you’ll be reading the book With the Old Breed At Peleliu and Okinawa by Eugene Sledge and writing a paper addressing the prompts below. This paper will be a digital submission. In your first paragraph, please summarize the the book and the author as an introduction.
In the following paragraphs, please address these prompts/ideas:
- Who are the “Old Breed” and why is that important to Sledge?
- How did combat on Peleliu and Okinawa differ?
- In what ways did leadership impact soldier morale? (provide clear examples).
In your last paragraph, summarize your responses as a conclusion.
Please use examples from the book to back up your analysis.
- Provide citations to back up your examples using parenthetical citations, for example (Author, Title, Page #), so it should look like this: (Sledge, With the Old Breed, 27).
- Do not use excessive direct quotations.
