Assignment Description:
Healthcare leadership position paper. This assignment addresses a leadership issue chosen from the approved topic list below. The paper is to be a minimum of four FULL pages, excluding references and title page. An abstract is not required. Any paper on a topic not from the approved list will not be accepted! Research the topic as it relates to the healthcare leadership profession.
The grade for this paper will be determined by adherence to the following criteria:
_______ 1. Issue in the Literature- (subheading #1) (25%)
Under this first subheading you will cover points A though C listed below.
A. Definition and Description: Here you want to begin by briefly explaining the importance of the issue you selected to write about. Then you will provide a clear definition and description of the ethical, moral, and legal issues associated with the topic you selected in healthcare leadership. For example: if you chose patient safety for your paper topic then here you would discuss the ethical and moral reasons it is necessary to provide quality patient safety standards in healthcare facilities. You would then discuss the legal issues associated with failure to provide patient safety standards. Whatever listed topic you select you would follow that same process. If for example you decide your topic will be Professionalism in the Workplace you may discuss the ethical and moral reasons for assuring professionalism is outlined in policies and all staff are trained effectively on those policies. You would then discuss the possible legal ramifications for failing to do so.
B. Issue Development -examine the history of the topic and explain how the problem began. Here you will look back through research to identify where your selected problem began. Keep in mind that most of these issues have been around in healthcare for many decades if not longer. So your research should look into when this issue began to be identified as an area in need of focus in healthcare, such that discussion and eventually actions were instituted to begin to address it.
C. Strategies for Resolving the Issue- Here you will identify strategies to resolve/improve the issue supported by your references. You must have at least two different sources for each position. Here you may find various viewpoints on your selected topic.
________2. Critique of the Issue in the Literature- (subheading #2) (20 %)
Discuss the strengths, weaknesses/omissions, and accuracy of the information in the literature.
________3. Position- (subheading #3) (25%)
A. Defense of Position – provide appropriate rationale to defend the selected strategies for resolving the issue.
________4. Documentation (20%)
A. Outline followed with heading (APA) provided for logical flow
B. Paraphrasing and limited use of direct quotes
C. Flow and readability of the paper/current use of APA in body of paper
D. Correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and tense in the document
E. Correct citation of references using current APA format

The paper must have a minimum of six (6) references: at least four research articles and two from the popular press or other professional journals. Include one reference that is from a webinar, seminar or general presentation format. Wikipedia and dictionary sites are not accepted as a reference. References must be cited using current APA format
All papers MUST include these three subheadings:

3.) Position
Each subheading should include the requirements listed above for that section. Subheadings can help to organize your paper and assure you do not leave anything out. Papers without the three subheadings dividing content will not be accepted.
