This final paper is an opportunity for students to demonstrate the ability to critically evaluate a topic of interest in puberty and/or adolescence from a biopsychological perspective. Students must obtain approval of their topic (in general terms) and cannot be the same topic that their group presentation was on. I expect that students will demonstrate a significant growth of knowledge from when they started the course. Please submit under the Assignment section of the course Sakai site which will use turnitin.com plagiarism service. The paper is to be 10- pages (double-spaced) not including title page or references and must be formatted in APA style , 7th edition (12 pt. Times New Roman font). The use of course materials (textbook and assigned readings) are encouraged, however, 5 additional academic sources (at a minimum) must be included. This assignment is worth 30% of your final grade.

RUBRIC:
Format: 3 marks
Overall Format and References: APA style (citations, title page, reference page, 12 point, double spaced, Times New Roman font, margins, Page # (page limit 10 pages max), Overall writing style must be written as an academic paper.
References (In-text citations & Reference Page): Uses APA 7th edition formatting for in-text citations and references: Uses 5 external academic sources (this doesn’t include course readings or textbook) , Uses text book/course readings throughout paper: Proper paraphrasing and citing are required.
Introduction: 5 marks
Describes the purpose of paper (e.g., thesis statement informing reader of what paper will discuss/examine), why it is important.
Body of Essay: 17 marks
Emphasizes critical evaluation of theory and uses academic evidence to support your argument or thesis on this topic. Can include practical applications and evaluations of interventions.
Conclusion: 5 marks
Learning synthesis that emphasizes theory as well as the practical applications. Summarize main points from paper (recap purpose of paper and highlight key main concepts/ideas/interventions etc.) This section should tie your paper together and offer the reader future directions for research in this area.
Total Marks: 30
Minimum 5 sources from outside the class and she wants the use information from articles she provided during the semester as well. I will provide you with those articles. I have also found some outside sources that should help but if you find ones that better suit go for it (peer-reviewed or from a TRUSTED source). I also have my thesis statement done (might need tuning) and started the intro.
Don’t worry about a title page or headers I can add that before submission. Feel free to add title ideas though. Also formatted for Microsoft Word.
