present your fully formed, balanced, and philosophically viable position on the topic you chose. This assignment prepares you to be able to make a defense of your thoughts and positions in a way that is acceptable and persuasive.

You have been asked to write an article for your community magazine in which you will address a popular, local issue using philosophy. You may choose your topic from any of the subjects, or combination of subjects, that we cover in class. (Discuss your topic with me if you are in doubt.) You may either argue for a position (why someone should accept a particular proposition) or defend a position against opposition (why a claim is incorrect, inappropriate, or misapplied). The magazine is targeted at a popular but sophisticated audience. This means that you will need to write academically, carefully define your terms, and make complete, compelling arguments. The Paper is to be academically formatted, five to seven pages long (double spaced), properly referenced, and well proofread. There should be no blue or red markings in Word except for unusual spellings. All assignments are to be submitted electronically in Word format with the file name [PHI1010_lastname_firstname_final].

This is the third submission of your Gordon Rule project. The final paper must be a minimum of 5 full pages long, written by you, excluding titles, headings, and Reference pages (4.99 pages does not meet the requirement) and shouldn’t run more than 7 pages of original content. It must be written in the APA format and Times New Roman 12 pt. font, contain in-line references, a Works Cited page, and be written in your own words. You cannot pass this class without the successful completion of this component.
