Assignment Instructions to Writing the Journal Entry:
– Please read chapter 24 from the book “Religion in American Life” which is attached below the instructions.
Please read the instructions below provided by our professor to understand why and what to do for the journal entry:
– Q: What’s a journal for the purpose of this course?
– A: A journal is a response to an assignment. You may choose to:
-analyze the entire document (short docs and ones you’re particularly interested in are good for these).
-analyze 3-4 aspects of a document (review your notes, isolate 3-4 topics, discuss/critique/expand.
-argue for/against the position taken in a document (utilize strong analytical skills for these, do not rely on emotional responses).
-travel log (combination of analysis and reflection) .
Next, Please read the format below to get an idea of how to structure the journal entry once you know the 3-4 topics/aspects you will be covering after reading the chapters:

I found ______________ and _______________ to be of particular note, and ____________ reminded me of something from my past. I was confused by _____________ and _____________. I will start by discussing what I found informative.

– Next, I will discuss what I found confusing.
