Would having a private school curriculum improve student’s academic performance in Baltimore City Public School System?

EBP Part ONE you were asked to do the following

Identify a social problem of personal interest and relevant to social work and write a problem statement;
Formulate an EBP question related to the evaluation of a practice/program/policy designed to address this social problem;
Find a recent, peer-reviewed journal article that evaluates a practice/program/policy designed to address this social problem;
Submit that article to myself of approval. IF YOUR ARTICLE DID NOT DO THE ABOVE (EVALUED PRACTICE PROGRAM INTERVENTION OR POLICY IT WAS NOT APPROVED. WITHOUT AN APPROVED ARTICLE YOU CAN NOT DO THIS NEXT STEP
EBP PART TWO– The Presentation
Detail the Problem/Background that was the catalyst for the choice of your article. Give a detailed background of the problem and the population. This will require you to do some additional literature search if you have not already so as to provide citations for your background section. REMEMBER… TELL THE STORY
Present a summary of the chosen article and its purpose/aims, research question if presented, population/sample, methodology, research design, and the policy, program, or intervention utilized to address the problem
Critically evaluate the article as it applied to your problem. You can also suggest your own view of another intervention that may fit better ( not required)
Identify implications for social work practice (for yourself and the profession)
AS You Are Presenting the Chosen Article to the class, tell us about:
Research question and literature review
Highlight the research question(s) or study purpose and any hypotheses
Briefly highlight the rationale for the study and provide your critique on the comprehensiveness of the literature review (was there enough information provided, etc.)
Theory or Framework
Design and sampling
Identify the category of design (e.g., pre-experimental, experimental) and name the actual design (e.g., one-group-pre-post test design)
Identify the category and type of sampling strategy (e.g., non-probability, purposive sample)
Describe who was in the study (e.g., students from research classes at UMB) and include key demographics: 50% White, 25% African American, etc.
Address any study attrition/retention
Intervention Measures
Identify the intervention and address how it was measured (e.g., number of session, by whom, etc.)
Identify the dependent variables, how each was measured, and the reliability and validity of each measure. Can do each variable separately (e. g., self esteem was measure by the Rosenberg self esteem scale. Cronbach’s alpha was reported at .85 and the study indicated strong concurrent validity)
Data analysis
Identify the data analysis technique (relate to each hypothesis if there were hypotheses; if no hypotheses, relate to research question or study purpose)
NOTES: Think of this like you are are a clinician or researcher. You want are passionate about a population or community and a problem they are facing and you just want to know how to best serve them. You are doing a search of the literature to give them the best treatment/program/intervention/or policy to meet their needs.
