Identify a hearing held in the 114th Congress related to cybersecurity and cyberterrorism from the list provided above. Watch the hearing, read the testimony or transcript, and take notes in order to answer the following questions to complete the assignment. (you may need to do some – not a lot – but some outside research to fully articulate answers to number one and number two.) Your Paper should include the following:
1. Summary of issue, its history/evolution, and why it matters.
2. Aspects of the issue addressed in the hearing and why they matter.
3. Identify possible goals of both the Committee and Members of Congress on the Committee. What are they looking to accomplish in this hearing? For example, are they looking to criticize the administration, are they interested in the issue because has a significance to the district they represent, or are they concerned about national security? 4. Identify possible goals of the witnesses. What are they looking to accomplish in this hearing? For example, is their primary goal to receive new or more funding from Congress for a specific program they implement, or is it to push back on Congress possibly regulating and restricting what they may be able to accomplish, or is it simply to inform Congress and elevate the pressing security concern to a higher level in government? You tell me what you think.
5. Provide an assessment of how well those goals were achieved.
Assignment Specifications: 4 to 5 pages, Times New Roman 12 pt font, double spaced. Citing should be done in accordance with APA formatting. Footnotes or endnotes, whatever you wish, just as long as it is cited. This paper is worth 200 points or 20% of your final grade for this course.
