Arabs are the one of the most negatively portrayed groups in the media today. What was the most thought provoking idea in the video? Does Hollywood’s portrayal of Arabs create racial stereotypes or is the industry simply giving the public what it wants? According to one prominent media mogul, “As producers, we are not responsible for educating the public or creating a more equitable society. Rather, our goal is to simply entertain the public and make money doing it. People are eating up these “negative” portrayals of minorities…don’t blame us…we’re just giving people what they want.” Do you agree or disagree with this comment?
