You will observe (via video resource) child behavior and identify developmental concepts that are demonstrated in the video. Similar to how you have found media sources for discussion boards.

Objectives:

  • Demonstrate your understanding and application of concepts related to physical, cognitive, and social and emotional factors impacting child development.
  • Demonstrate your ability to identify and apply empirical support to discussion of concepts
  • Demonstrate your writing skills including application of APA technical requirements

Tasks:

  1. Identify components of physical, cognitive, and social/emotional development that is occurring with the individual in the clip. Be specific. Full credit is earned by thoroughly identifying specific concepts from the course.

  2. Describe specifically what behaviors and observations you witness that connect with this aspect of development.
  3. Describe briefly a sociocultural factor that you are observing may impact a component of this child’s development. Be specific.
  4. Find at least one peer-reviewed research article/citation that supports how this factor why this factor is important or how this factor can impact the next stage of development.
    1. Use at least 1 in-text citation to connect with your peer reviewed source. Ex: (Smith, 2020).
  1. Describe briefly what you would recommend as an intervention or component to support development. Considering resilience factors, parenting interventions, stimulation, policy changes, trainings, etc.
