Directions:

·         Following your first slide which denotes the title of your presentation, you need to have a slide that explains why you chose the topic. Why are you passionate about this topic?

·          You need to have a specific slide(s) regarding the following:, Definition of diagnosis; Prevalence, Signs/Symptoms, Diagnostic Measures, Prognosis, Next Treatment, Side Effects of Treatment (including side effects of medications).

·         You are required to have at least 1 Website as part of your advocacy capstone presentation.  State the title of the website, a link to the website and brief summary of what the website is about. You also need to have a slide(s) pertinent to your “Golden Nuggets” as per your chosen website.

·         You are required to have at least 1 slide regarding any Legislative efforts pertinent to your topic. The legislative policy must be as current as possible (2020+).

·          You MUST REINFORCE THE ROLE OF ADVOCATE. This portion needs to be specific- what exactly is the role of the advocate pertinent to your advocacy capstone topic?  Include specific fundraising efforts and specific educational efforts. This portion should not be generalized. It needs to be specific to the topic that you chose.

·          You are required to have a RESOURCE slide in which you provide a summary and contact information for local, state, and national agencies specific to your topic. For example, if you are advocating for those with Parkinson’s Disease, you will need to provide a summary of a local agency in your hometown that addresses the needs of Parkinson’s patients; the same for state and national resources. You need to include a website address and a phone number for each agency as well.

·         You are required to have an INFORMATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL HANDOUT in which you provide an informational handout regarding the topic of your capstone. For example, if your topic is regarding Parkinson’s Disease, include an informational handout pertinent to your topic but that is not necessarily redundant to what you already addressed.  Please DO NOT create your own informational sheet. Please utilize a national website for your information sheet, use something that already exists versus creating your own.

·         In addition to the Resource slide as mentioned above, you are required to have a RESOURCE HANDOUT in which you provide a summary and contact information for local, state, and national agencies specific to your topic. For example, if you are advocating for those with Parkinson’s Disease, you will need to provide a summary of a local agency in your hometown that addresses the needs of Parkinson’s patients; the same for state and national resources. You need to include a website address and a phone number for each agency as well.

·         You need to include a slide pertinent to available clinical trials pertinent to your topic.

·         You are expected to utilize appropriate visual aids for your presentation via colorful graphics in your PowerPoint. You do NOT need to cite your pictures. You may incorporate YouTube/Video clips however, such cannot be excessive – you are being graded on your actual presentation).

  • Correct writing mechanics, grammar, and spelling are essential.

·         You must properly APA cite each PowerPoint slide.

·         APA format for the reference page is also required.
