The Collection
From the anthology section of Write Moves, curate a minimum of 4 works (from at least 2 of the 3 genres) not discussed in class and by 4 different authors, gathered together because they share a common writing device or element discussed in class.
An Essay on Devices and Social Engagement
An essay of at least 5 pages addressing the collection in terms of what they share. This commonality could include imagery, sound, character development, setting, etc. Also, since creative writing is an art and all art is social, the essay should discuss how at least 2 of the 4 works engage in similar social commentary about a public issue. Some examples of public issues include: class and/or economic differences; cultural difference and/or cultural discrimination; religious issues; human mastery of nature and/or the environment and/or animals; national identity controversies; the social implications of a change in literature and art; sexual orientation; disability; globalization and/or neocolonialism; the way the work of creative writing itself can be seen as a rhetorical attempt to engage effectively in significant regional, national, or global issues.
Minimum Requirements:
Your essay should be double spaced, with 1-inch margins, in 12-pt., Times New Roman (or some other easily readable) font. Does not need any sources or heading.
I have included the 4 works attatched below.
