The systemic perception of people of color negatively impacts the treatment of these groups of people by police officers in both urban and suburban neighborhoods

In your paper, you should include an introduction of the issue (why is it important to examine people’s views about race and policing and how they might vary?) and review the extant literature on the issue (what do we know already about views on the issue and how they differ across different people—Black versus White people, civilians versus officers, etc.?). You should then describe how you planned and then actually carried out your five interviews (e.g., where did you go? what was your plan for approaching strangers? what concerns did you have at the outset? how many people did you have to ask before reaching your target number of interviews? how did people respond to you when you asked to interview them? how receptive were they to your questions? what challenges did you face?, etc.). Next, you should describe and analyze your interviewees’ opinions about race and policing. For the analytical element, you should make specific connections between the interviewees’ comments and social psychological theories, principles, and research (e.g., how do their views reflect evidence of stereotypes, prejudice, or discrimination; the guardian-versus-warrior psychological orientation; stereotype threat theory; white privilege; etc.). Finally, you should conclude by describing the significance of what you learned from the interviews (e.g., do your findings conflict or comport with social psychology theory and findings? are there issues that researchers are neglecting to consider or study? are research recommendations impractical in the real-world?).
