You have to write a Compare/Contrast ESSAY. It means you will discuss elements that are similar in the MOVIE and the readings assigned. While contrast in writing discusses elements that are different, a compare-and-contrast essay then analyzes the subjects by comparing them, contrasting them, or both.
Also, you have to write a PERSONAL RESPONSE about the same topic at the end of the essay.

For your personal response, you should think critically about the pieces of writing and the movie assigned. Your response should be based on a critical analysis of the writing’s content and the movie compared to your beliefs and personal experiences.
Every work of literature is a snapshot of the time period in which it was written. Whether consciously or not, authors and movie directors are influenced by the events, works of art, and people of their era. These influences can be found in the text of their stories, essays, and poems.
Before beginning your essay, it is important to:
1. Research and read the plot of the assigned movie. Study the historical and cultural elements of the film.
2. Watch the film at least twice, understanding the film and the director’s visual resources to convey your idea.
3. Read the corresponding works of literature again, finding the argumentative similarities and differences with the film.
4. Study the literary periods and elements to which each piece of literature belongs.
5. Look for and be clear about the similar and differentiating elements between the film and the works of literature before starting to write your essay.
