Sections of this course will write one of their out-of-class formal essays on a topic addressing the reasons for Rome’s growth to a position of great political and cultural power.

Your answer should be a well-written response, conforming to standard practices and rules of the English language. You should have a clear introduction, thesis, and conclusion. EACH body paragraph should contain a clear topic sentence, numerous examples of specific evidence, and a thorough analysis of the evidence and how it proves/relates your topic sentence. This is a formal writing assignment, please use one of the academic writing styles (APA, MLA, etc). You are required to cite sources (at least three) and provide a bibliography or works cited page. You should have in-text citations either parentheticals, or foot notes. Use only sources that have been assigned in this course as “Learning Materials”, if you want to use another source, please get it approved first. I would treat this as an extended discussion post, but in a more formal style. To answer the question, you will probably be writing at least 500 words, perhaps more, but I am more concerned with the content than the length. Remember. . . make your point, provide your evidence, then your analysis. Again, this is really nothing different than what we have been doing so far in the discussion boards, just a little more formal.
