I am conducting a memory study for my psychology class. (This is experimental psychology class)
It is Independent project Paper. (final paper for experimnetal psychology class)
- The purpose of this study is to find out if there is gender difference in short term memory recall. Aim of this experiment is to find out if participants males/ females which one would be better able to have short-term memory recall for pictures/words presented in video slides separately.
another thing to look for would be if females would be better more rememberi g feminine wrods/pictures than males, or vice versa if would be better remembering masculine words/pictures more than feminine words/pictures. ( but thats something esle to look for, so if you will find something about it as well you can also mention about that in the paper) BUT MAIN THING TO LOOKS FOR IS IF THERE IS GENDER DIFFERENCE IN GERENRAL IN SHORT TERM MEMORY RECALL. MAIN FOCUS IS TO FIND OUT IF FEMALES ARE BETTER AT IN SHORT TERM MEMORY RECALL THAT MALES.
I technically have not done experiment.

Descriptives Analysis,
One way ANOVA
calculate data including means and SD.
two sample T test ( Levenes Test )
Wechslers Memory scale. You could use this or any scale that is suitable for this short term memory recall experiment.
Keep in mind- in the experiment should be 40 participants in total.
20 males and 20 females.
All students, different age group.
I already did presentation where I had outline how I was going to run experiment, so please follow instructions.
in the experiment you can say that there was two video slides. each video had 20 slides. fist video had 20 random written words (these words were either very masculine or feminine) and on the second video you have 20 picture slides, where is either masculine or feminine objects things. such as pictures of the cars, or motorcycle or lipstick, or higheel.
each video lasts one minute.
after watching first video- participant, will try to recall all written words that she/he remembers, so will write on paper. she/he will have two minutes to recall.
same thing will happpen with second video- they will watch second video and then will have two minutes to recall how many words they remember. and look for aslo if males and females will remember more feminien words or masculine words.
but MAIN THINGS TO FIND OUT IS TO SEE IF FEMALES ARE BETTER AT RECALLING than males in short Term memory.
first video slide I MADE included written words such as – VIDEO GAME, BALLERINA, NECKLACE,WRESLTING, BEER< HUNTER, PERFUME< BAKING< BASEBALL etc..
second video include pictures of random objects/items such as – Airplane, Car, motorcycle, tie, bikini, lipstick etc
so you have an idea what these slides included.
that how experiment need to be done. but I dont have actual data cause I have not ran experiment, and I need you to come up with numbers so we can. create data.
But once you have data, just pretend that experiment you did was in library at hunter college. That you were there whole day from morning till evening. So you were able to collect data.
