Connect key idea to a recent experience you had as an educator I am a kindergarten-3rd grade special ed teacher)

Throughout this course, you will be asked to submit a reflection on your recent classroom experiences and make connections to the course content from that week. This is an opportunity for you to synthesize the course materials and think critically about how these ideas impact your understanding of your students, your classroom context, and your pedagogical and instructional choices. Each journal entry should be at least 2 pages double-spaced in 12 point Times New Roman or Arial font with 1-inch margins.

In order to receive full credit, you MUST reflect thoughtfully on your experiences and include evidence from the course readings, videos, and/or PowerPoints with proper APA citations*. You will not need a cover page for reflective journals, but will need to include a reference page for any works cited. Please carefully review the rubric (below) to help guide your writing. Additionally, each reflective journal will include a guiding prompt to help you focus your thoughts and reflect more deeply on your experiences and the content.

*I encourage you to utilize the materials from this course, but you can also make connections to materials from other courses and from your own research.

This week’s prompt:

Select one key idea (racism). Then connect this key idea to a recent experience you had as an educator. (I am a kindergarten, 1st and 3rd grade special ed teacher)

What happened?

Did your decision-making change based on what you have learned in this course?

Could you have done something differently?

What are you excited about implementing in your classroom in the future related to this key idea?
