Unknown or little known Latinas/Chicanas* who contributed to the fight for reproductive rights or justice– We have not looked at many specific women who have made contributions to the fight for reproductive rights/justice through activism, writing, art, protesting, holding political office and trying or making official change, etc.
Find 2 * Latina/Chicana** unsung heroines that you would like to write about. Do not write about women that are well known or who have been discussed in class. Use in class materials or outside credible sources, (not Wikipedia or the like), to research and write the essay.
* If you can write the paper about 1 Latina you may do so, however make sure you have enough material.
**Latinas/Chicanas is specified however, the labels are exclusionary. Any Latina from US, central and South America, Caribbean who have made contributions. If in doubt, please see me for approval.
Write your essay according to the following:
6 full pages–not 5 1/2 or 5 3/4–points will be taken off if it is not 6 full pages. I can’t stress this enough. Please ensure there are 6 full pages for full credit. This does not include a Works Cited/Reference page or the interview transcripts. You may write more, of course.
Works Cited/Reference page is not included in the page count.
12 point font. Pages numbered. Doubled space.
No running head.
No name, class, date, etc. at top of page. Don’t use up the first page with identifying info. Just a title.
Use citations–1 per paragraph or at least 3 per page.
MLA or APA style–specify in the comment section when you submit.
