This research paper outline example will guide you in formatting the layout for a clear direction to work on. It eliminates the inconsistency along with lacking proper substance in the paper. Be sure to include citations within your outline to further support your writing.

An annotated bibliography is a critical literature synthesis tool for researchers who are curating resources related to a topic of interest. The annotated bibliography is the first step to a comprehensive literature review and provides an opportunity to identify gaps to be used for future research. An annotated bibliography requires critical reading and summarizing of the findings of collected sources.

Each annotation begins with an APA formatted reference and is followed by a summary of the source. The following questions can be used to craft the summary of the annotated sources:

•What was the purpose of this research?

•What was the problem the researcher(s) addressed?

•What are the research questions?

•What method and design were used in this research?

•What were the results of the research?

•What are the implications for future research?

This week, students will prepare an annotated bibliography (dues in Week 4) with the articles, books, research, etc. you plan to use and cite in your final project (that is due in Week 7). Please follow the sample provided in the classroom with these instructions. Students should include 6-8 entries this week. Please see the following example below.

Example – Annotated Bibliography:

Bell, C., & Holder, M. (2019, January/February). The Interrelationship between Race, Social

Norms, and Dietary Behaviors among College-attending Women. American Journal of Health Behavior, 43(1), 23-36.

This article examines a study conducted to compare racial identity and dietary habits of women on college campuses. The findings of the study found that women with perceived differences and social/family norms were more likely to develop unhealthy dietary habits in college, most specifically related to fruit and vegetable consumption. This resource is useful because it examines self-perception of race and how that can impact behavior in ways that influence one’s health in the future.

Elliott, W., & Friedline, T. (2013, April). “You Pay Your Share, We’ll Pay Our Share”: The College Cost Burden and the Role of Race, Income, and College Assets. Economics of Education Review, 33, 134-153.

This resource discusses the value of college savings plans in encouraging youth to enroll in college. Those with racial and economic disadvantages may be unable to save for college, and this puts their children at a disadvantage. The authors conclude that a greater number of grant and aid opportunities are needed in order to reduce the cost burden of college for the disadvantaged. This resource is helpful because it makes connections between race and economics.

Key Assignment (Due in Week 7): Strategic HR Plan

A Strategic HR Plan helps organizations to align human resources to corporate strategy. It is an essential planning document built upon the corporate mission, vision, values and goals established in the strategic business plan.

A Strategic HR Plan provides information on how the HR function will support the goals and strategies of the organization, while also ensuring that HR planning and practices are consistent.

The ideal Strategic HR Plan outlines how the gaps between present and future capabilities will be addressed, enabling businesses to effectively pursue their company goals.

Considering what you have learned in the learning modules, and as we progress through the course, you will develop your comprehensive Strategic HR plan to present to the executives of your organization. The process for developing a Strategic HR Plan begins by identifying where your organization is now. Then formulate a clear picture of your company’s future along with ways to get there.

Due in Week 2: Choose your Problem/Situation

Due in Week 3: Research Outline

Due in Week 4: Annotated Bibliography

Due in Week 7: Final Project

Due in Week 8: PowerPoint

Please review the following list of potential problem/situations and choose one for your final assignment, Strategic HR Plan. You can write your paper as if you were employed at a Fortune 500 company, a current organization that is in the news, or a past or present employer.

Below is the list of potential problems or situations from which you can select, choose one to research for your final project:

1Rollout of a change management initiative.

2Creation and implementation of a new compensation and benefits package.

3Creation and implementation of a new performance appraisal system or method of conducting performance appraisals.

4Creation and implementation of an effective recruiting and retention program to enhance the quality of employees and management within the organization.

5Creation and implementation of a succession plan.

6Technological changeover from one computer system to a newer computer system (HRIS – include possible conversion problems).

7Creation and implementation of a revised policy to replace a current policy, which is not working (and lawsuits have resulted from the current, for example – a poorly written disciplinary policy).

Week 2: Choose your Problem/Situation (from the list 1-7 above). If you have a specific HR issue outside of this list above that you are passionate about and would like to research, please make your request directly to your instructor, you must obtain prior approval.

Week 3: Research Outline

Week 4: Annotated Bibliography

Week 7: Final Project

Week 8: PowerPoint

Your Strategic HR Plan should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect graduate-level writing and APA standards.
