If it hasn’t been evident enough in recent years, people are not content with the way things are. This is especially when it comes to politics and religion; as broad as those terms are. People are expressing their concerns, but no one is listening. There are endless discussions on these topics that always end the same way; without action.
When a great deal is being discussed on the news and social media regarding the link between religion and politics and how it poorly affects individuals, without change, it forces people to think up the many possibilities as to why. Extraterrestrials, espionage, ghosts, secret societies, money laundering, and the list goes on. Human beings can’t help but try to make sense of the unknown and things that are out of their control. This is what leads us to conspiracy theories.
The outbreak of covid-19 of course didn’t help in this matter. As government officials made statements ensuring citizens of their efforts to aid in the covid-19 crisis, individuals grew more and more skeptical. With rising death rates, but poor and expensive healthcare in some areas of the world, it really makes people question the facts that are being presented to them.
Throughout many major events like this there’s one thing they have in common; a connection between religion and politics used by the government to influence their citizens. This paper will attempt to emphasize the link between religion, politics, and conspiracy theories as well as discuss how government officials integrate religiosity to keep people at bay when met with injustice, which has been effective in deescalating riots or uprisings while maintaining control.
1. Please elaborate on this as much as you can. Is there too much of an intersection between politics and religion that is creating these conspiracy theories? Is this why more people are losing faith? Does the government fund the church so they can have influence over people?
