Physical Activity & Exercise Programming
In the Management of Cardiovascular Disease
Assignment: 3,000 word critical evaluation of standards, guidelines and underpinning evidence of physical activity and exercise for the prevention of and rehabilitation from cardiovascular disease.
In considering the guidance from the BACPR materials given to you on the module, along with the ACPICR Standards and studies found within the most recent Cochrane Reviews on Exercise-based Rehabilitation for Coronary Artery/Heart Disease (CHD) and for Heart Failure:
1. Create a summary table (equivalent to 500 words) of the frequency, intensity and duration of aerobic endurance type exercise recommendations found within the above documents, with the following provisos:
a. The first row of the table is for BACPR
b. The next two rows of the table are for each of the two Cochranereviews (provide the ranges of values found within the studies)
c. The final two rows for the ACPICR Standards; create one row inthe table for CHD and another row for heart failure
2. In 500 words critically review how the three groups of information (BACPR, ACPICR and Cochrane) describe the need for warm-up and cool-down
3. In 500 words critically review how the three groups of information(BACPR, ACPICR and Cochrane) recommend the use of strengthtraining exercises
4. In 1,500 words, based on the information summarised in your table, provide critical appraisal on the effectiveness of the types or modes of exercise used in the evidencebase (e.g. aerobic continuous orinterval, circuits and the types of equipment used)
