The Post-test is required for this course. Note : it will be available after you have completed the Pretest and the Post-test agreement.
Post-tests in ORGL 3322 and 3332 will be essay or essay-like assignments. This means that your submissions should include an introduction, where you lay out the structure and central points of your writing, and a conclusion, where you wrap-up and show how your central points have been demonstrated. You should also be citing information from the learning material in support of your claims. Use a consistent citation style when you do cite the course material.
Post-tests are graded out of 100 points. You will need to earn at least 80% in order to successfully pass the subject area. You will have three attempts to earn 80% on the Post-test. If 80% is not achieved on the first attempt, subsequent attempts will become available to you after each Post-test has been graded. If you are not able to successfully pass the Post-test in three attempts then you will need to meet with your academic coach.
This is an individual test. Any plagiarism will be rewarded with a 0/100 grade for the post-test. Given that you must pass each post-test to pass the course, a failing grade for a single post-test will equal a failing grade for the course.
When you are ready, you may proceed to the Post-test.
The project of this course (ORGL 3332) is to critically investigate the social responsibility of corporations in 21st century capitalist societies by focusing on the inevitable conflicts that the drive for profits will produce in the face of other pressing social concerns, like poverty, the push for diversity, and the exploitation of workers.
In Competency 1, we have taken an important first step in this project by reviewing the dominant theory of corporate social responsibility (to increase profits), the nature of workplace conflicts and social problems, and the social problem of poverty.
For this post-test, therefore, you must compose a 1500-2000 word essay in which you answer the following questions:
Think about the issue of poverty. The basic idea of the Social Problems textbook is that social problems, like poverty, are not primarily caused by or the result of personal decision-making or character. What are two social causes of poverty in our world? How do these factors end up causing or continuing to maintain an impoverished class of citizens?
Nonetheless, we tend to fall into the commonly held view that poverty is the result of personal decision-making and character. How does this happen? What factors blind us to the social reality of poverty? What common beliefs, opinions, or assumptions about work and action work to hide the social reality of poverty from us?
