Learning Activity Questions- Moodle Theme 2- Who?-The Future of Leadership Development

This week, we will take a deep dive into the history of the field of leadership and leadership development as a social science, pioneers and significant figures in the field, their contributions to the body of knowledge, and current perspectives from literature of their work. You will be required to investigate these ideas and use current literature (citing original sources 2019-2023) to identify their place in the body of knowledge now. It is a glimpse into the history of Leadership Development and how we ended up where we are today.

In this week’s Moodle shell, you will find a textbook called The Future of Leadership Development. This book is also available to you through our LSU subscription services, but I felt it was easier for you to find the PDF here rather than going to look for it. Chapters 1 and two on pages 1-26 are of particular relevance to this week’s content. You will use this book again moving throughout the course.
The questions for reflection can be found in the PDF file entitled “Learning Activity”. Just like last week, I ask you to reflect on these questions and provide answers from literature and from your own personal reflections.

  • 50 points based on answers to the posted questions- DO NOT RELY SOLELY ON THE TEXT FOR ANSWERS. Graduate level work is not an exercise in memorization and regurgitation but a cumulative thought process driven by many sources.
  • 25 points based on examples and personal perspectives/ideas about these answers
  • 15 points for article summaries- find at least 3 scholarly articles that reference one of these historical people OR perspectives on leadership and how they are currently viewed in the body of knowledge.
  • 10 points for citations and bibliography
(The text book and questions for assignment will be attached to this order)
Aboout the book:  This book provides a comprehensive review of the literature on leadership development, offering an in-depth analysis and critical analysis of existing leadership development initiatives. It is further supported by empirical data, which is derived from interviews with leadership providers, HR experts, and senior leaders from a variety of industries. This book offers practical advice on how leadership development can be improved to support leaders in a rapidly changing and unpredictable environment. It critically examines the future of leadership development and what is lacking in current approaches.

Make sure to cite scholarly sources and use current sources atleast from 2018 and later
