Critical
thinking is a habit of mind characterized by the comprehensive exploration of
issues, ideas, artifacts, and events before accepting or formulating an opinion
or conclusion (Association of American Colleges and Universities [AACU], n.d.).
A critical
thinking paper aims to help students develop analytical skills while crafting a
solid argument (Thompson, n.d.). “Unlike review and narrative essays, critical thinking
essays require students to add their own thoughts, contemplate the meaning and
value of a particular text and analyze important issues” (Thompson, n.d., 1).
