Submit a draft of your Application of Sociological Theories and Concepts regarding workplace harrasment.

You will use the workplace scenario: In this scenario, Mary, an employee in a medium-sized technology organization, is a victim of verbal workplace harassment exploited by her colleague, Joseph. Over the past few months, Mary has endured offensive jokes, derogatory comments, and belittling remarks from Joseph, creating a hostile work setting. Even though Mary has reported the incident to her supervisor Jane, the supervisor has failed several to take proper action to address the situation efficiently. Due to the ongoing harassment, Mary’s work performance has decreased rapidly. Also, the constant exposure to a demeaning and toxic atmosphere has impacted her psychological well-being, deteriorating her sense of job satisfaction and increasing stress levels. Moreover, Mary’s motivation and engagement in her duties have greatly decreased, impacting her productivity and overall contribution to the company. Furthermore, Jane’s failure to take action has worsened the problems since Jane has indirectly conveyed the message that the company can tolerate harassment. In addition, this lack of response undermines Mary’s trust in the management’s commitment to employee well-being and also shows a culture of impunity for the harassers. The other thing is that the implications of verbal workplace harassment go beyond Mary’s experience but result in a toxic environment that decreases cohesion and morale within the company, resulting in decreased productivity, higher turnover rates, and damage to the company’s reputation. Also, the employee that becomes aware of the harassment or who witness the harassment may be hesitant to report their experiences since they fear inadequate support from the management and fear possible reprisal.  

  1. Use a sociological perspective to explain the presence of the problem in the scenario you selected and some of the major organizational factors that could have contributed to the problem—this should be done at both the micro and macro level.
  2. Use at least one specific sociological theory and several related concepts to provide a more in-depth discussion of your sociological view of why the problem occurred.
  3. Explain how (1) and (2) involve different social structures and the social construction of reality of the different stakeholders. Also, explain how different cultural perspectives could have been involved.

This should be specifically written for the CEO and board of directors of the company in your sceniro.
