Literature Review Section
Compose an APA-style literature review. Keep the following guidelines in mind when writing
your literature review:
• Comprehensive. A well-written literature review tells a story by comprehensively
presenting the current state of knowledge on a research topic and its related
psychological theory. For suggestions and guidance for how to approach your literature
review, check out these great resources:

introduction, a solid body, and an eloquent conclusion. The reader is clear about the
direction and aims of the research topic.
• Source Inclusion. All sources from Step 1 must be overtly discussed, synthesized, and
connected to the research topic in a meaningful way. It may be necessary to add
additional sources to help round out your literature review.
• References. All sources discussed in the literature review must be listed within an APA
References page. Similarly, all sources within the References page must also be overtly
discussed and cited within the literature review. The References page begins on the first
full page following your completed literature review.
