Explore the complexities of personal relationships in the context of political activism. Discuss how the characters’ friendships, romances, and alliances are affected by their involvement in political causes.

Your presentation should focus on some aspect of the text you signed up for as it relates to the course themes AND should engage in analysis appropriate to the discipline of literary scholarship. Make sure your focus isn’t too narrow or too broad! Remember, this should be approximately equivalent to a 10-15 minute oral presentation. Your task is to be the resident “expert” on your topic, and to do this you should research your topic by consulting relevant books and articles in academic journals. The research and reading that you do (even if it doesn’t all make it into your response paper) should allow you to contribute additional information on your topic during discussions in the online forums. Your presentation should have an argument, and you should present and analyze evidence from the course reading(s) to support that argument, which you will further support/contextualize using the research you have done. No need to go overboard with your research. A couple of high-quality secondary sources, well integrated into your presentation, should suffice. You should assume everyone in your audience has done the course reading itself. Hint about topics: diagnosing characters is not a productive topic for a literature presentation or essay, so avoid submitting assignments organized around looking up a disease, disorder, or illness and simply relating how and how not the reading matches what you found in your research
