Assignment 2: Ethical Reasoning Paper
20 points
Length: 5-7 pages
It is necessary to be able to present and discuss information with individuals and groups of people. The ability to logically think and clearly present one’s ideas is integral to success in so many areas of life. In this paper, you will identify,  explain, and  evaluate the ethical perspective of others and themselves as well as articulate a reasoned judgment.
The role of social ethics is to provide members of society a framework for approaching controversial or sensitive issues so that everyone can peacefully coexist. Social ethics are the philosophical or moral principles that, in one way or another, represent the collective experience of people and cultures. This sort of ethics often acts as a sort of “code of conduct” that governs what is and is not acceptable, as well as providing a framework for ensuring that all members of the community are cared for. Personal ethics is a category of philosophy that determines what an individual believes about morality and right and wrong.
You will choose a controversial sociological theory or concept contained in the assigned textbook. As part of your paper, you will investigate, form a position, and make an argument.
Your paper should be 5-7 pages and meant as a persuasive argument. You will present evidence for your position as well as the societal ethics surrounding the paradox, concept or theory that forms the basis of your paper. Your argument should also include a discussion of the personal ethics that guides your position.
