nstructions for this assessment task:
As a group, you must select an activity that promotes mental health and wellbeing and prevents
workplace burnout. You then need to facilitate this activity in your Week 10 seminar.
You may choose any activity. The activity must be evidence based to promote mental health and
wellbeing and prevent/address burnout. You may choose an activity from the suggested list below,
but you are also welcome to select an activity that is not on this list. You are encouraged to be
creative, as long as the activity is evidence based.
Possible activitiy
• Exercise/physical activity
Step 1. The first seven minutes of your activity need to be a presentation about the activity. The
points you need to address about your activity include:
1. Discuss how this activity promotes mental health and wellbeing for nurses and/or midwives
and prevents/addresses workplace burnout.
2. Evaluate the effectiveness of this activity in promoting mental health and wellbeing for
nurses and/or midwives and prevents/addresses workplace burnout.
• An evaluation involves considering the positive and negative aspects of the
activity and coming up with an informed judgement about the activity.
3. Using the Rolfe, Jasper and Freshwater Reflection Framework (2001), as a group, reflect
upon what you learnt about the activity and its role in promoting mental health and
wellbeing and in preventing/addressing workplace burnout. This must be a group reflection,
but this section can be presented by one presenter. The questions to answer when using the
Rolfe, Freshwater and Jasper Reflection Framework (2001) include:
a. What did the group learn about the activity?
b. So what impact will implementing this activity have on group members’ mental
health and wellbeing and risk of workplace burnout?
c. Now what can the group members do to incorporate the activity as a tool for
promoting their mental health and wellbeing and preventing the risk of workplace
burnout?
NOTE: The first two points must be evidence based and supported with literature.

Step 2. In the final five minutes of your presentation, you need to run the mental health promotion
activity you have selected. Please make sure to bring any equipment/resources that you need for
this part of your presentation.
Group charter
There is a group charter on the HNN301 cloud site in the AT2 folder. You need to download this
charter, write group rules on the document, sign the document and upload it into the AT2 dropbox
before your presentation.
Audience expectations
Whilst a necessary skill to possess, we understand that presenting to an audience can be anxiety–
provoking for some people. Promoting colleagues’ mental health and wellbeing includes creating a
supportive, non–judgmental and safe environment. This includes being a respectful, encouraging and
supportive audience member for your colleagues. Therefore, as part of the audience, you are
expected to conduct yourself in a respectful and professional manner. This means actively listening
and, where appropriate, participating in the activities.
References
You need to include literature to support your discussion of the mental
health promotion activity. References need to be no older than ten years
unless they are seminal work. Government websites are appropriate in
addition to resources listed in your reading list. However, references to .com
websites and/or Wikipedia are inappropriate for this assessment task.
Presentation and submission requirements:
• You must prepare a Power Point presentation for the first seven minutes of your
presentation. This is expected when providing education. You need to bring your Power
Point presentation on a USB stick to your seminar so you can use the seminar room
computer.
• Depending on your group’s activity, it may or may not be appropriate to use a Power Point
presentation when running the activity component of your presentation.
• Each group member must present for roughly three minutes each.
• You do not need to include an introduction or conclusion, but you are expected to introduce
the activity you are going to discuss and run, and to appropriately close your
activity/presentation.
• Before your presentation, you need to submit your presentation script, any presentation
slides, group charter and reference list into the AT2 dropbox on the HNN301 cloud site.
Your reference list must follow APA 7 Referencing Guidelines.
