What Is an
American? Moralistic (and Judgmental) Essay Prompt
Here is
the prompt for the essay you will write today:
What is
the appropriate balance between holding to your personal convictions and
avoiding an undue level of judgmentalism? What is the common theme seen in this
module that supports your opinion? Be sure to consider the question from a
biblical perspective. Provide textual support as you explain.
Instruction:
·
Create a
5-paragraph essay format.
a. Include an engaging introductory paragraph
with a thesis statement at the end of the first paragraph that clearly states
your position.
b.
Include 3 body paragraphs in which each paragraph begins with a topic
sentence that connects the evidence (support) to the thesis. Each
paragraph should have two examples or pieces of evidence. If you feel 4 body
paragraphs are necessary for evidential support, please include 4.
· c. Include a conclusion
paragraph. Remember to restate the thesis statement.
Do not use the first person in your essay (“I,”

“also,” “therefore,” and “finally”) that help the
flow of the paragraphs.
·

evidence and examples from texts you have read during the study of this module.

to…”, or in-text citations.

a Works Cited page.
·
6. Use
MLA 9 formatting guidelines.
