Issue
When patients are admitted into the hospital, there are some procedures and circumstances when they would be enrolled in a tobacco cessation program for the duration of their time at the hospital. At the point of discharging the patients, Niagara Region Public Health would like to better understand what is currently available for patients across Canada and the USA in the form of a tobacco cessation discharge program or outpatient cessation resources to support their ability to quit tobacco.
PICO Question:
Population – Patients being discharged from the hospital that are trying to quit smoking
Intervention – Hospital discharge program
Comparison – Outpatient cessation resources
Outcome – Increased quit smoking rates
In discharged hospital patients that are quitting smoking, how does a hospital discharge program compared to outpatient cessation resources affect their ability to quit smoking.
Scope:
Canada and USA, if there are too many articles narrow down to Canada, then Ontario.
