Objective: The journal article critique will provide students an
in-depth analysis of a peer reviewed journal article. The objective of
this critique is to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, methodologies,
findings, and overall contribution of the article to the field of lifespan
psychology. The critique employs a systematic approach to assess the article’s
key components, including its research design, theoretical framework, data
collection and analysis methods, as well as implications and significance for
the broader academic and practical context.
Instructions:
1.
Select a research article from a
peer-reviewed journal that is relevant to your research interests and the
course content. The article must be published within the last five years.
2.
Read the article carefully, paying
attention to the research questions, hypotheses, methods, results, and
conclusions.
3.
Write a critical review of the
article, including the following components: a. Introduction:
Briefly introduce the research article, including the research questions and
objectives. b. Methodology: Describe the research design, sample
size, data collection methods, and data analysis techniques used in the study.
c. Results: Summarize the main findings of the study and
discuss their significance. d. Strengths/Limitations: Evaluate
the strengths and weaknesses of the research article, including the study
design, data collection methods, data analysis techniques, and conclusions.
e. Conclusion/Recommendations/Further Research: Provide a
summary of your critique and discuss the implications of the research findings
for your field of study.
Grading: The assignment will be graded based on the following
criteria:

Selection of a relevant research
article.

Understanding of the research design,
data collection methods, and data analysis techniques.
3.
Ability to critically evaluate the
strengths and weaknesses of the research article.
4.
Ability to discuss the implications of
the research findings for the field of study.

Grading Rubric:
1.
Content
(50pts.): The journal article critique effectively summarizes the main
criteria and key points of the research article.
2.
Organization
(20pts.): The journal article critique is well-organized and easy to
follow.
3.
APA
Style & Communication (20pts.): The journal article critique follows
APA formatting research writing style.
4.
Reference
& Citation (10pts.): The presentation is free of spelling and
grammatical errors, and the APA format is used correctly.
Note:
This rubric is subject to change based on the instructor’s preferences and
requirements.
Submission
Guidelines:
1.
The article critique should be between
200-400 words, double-spaced, and in Times New Roman font, size 12.
2.
Use APA format for the journal article
in-text citation and reference the journal article only for this assignment.
3.
