Use
appropriate ethical principles to support why nurses who missed
opportunities to ID abuse should not be held responsible for the death of a
child.
– Important ethical
principles that are violated in abuse are autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice.
– Use three (3)
provisions of the ANA Code of Ethics that apply to why a nurse who missed
opportunities to ID abuse should not be held responsible for the death of a
child.
Provision
2 The nurse’s primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual,
family, group, community, or population.
Provision
3 The nurse promotes, advocates for, and protects the rights, health, and
safety of the patient.
Provision
4 The nurse has authority, accountability and responsibility for nursing
practice; makes decisions; and takes action consistent with the obligation to
provide optimal patient care.
Provision
5 The nurse owes the same duties to herself as to others, including the
responsibility to promote health and safety, preserve wholeness of character
and integrity, maintain competence, and continue personal and professional
growth.
– Discuss possible outcomes of a nurse who is not responsible for this death.
– Consider which, if any, ethical principles are in conflict with persecuting a
nurse for missing opportunities to ID abuse in a child that resulted in the
death of the child.
Also open up the guidelines attachment as well. I do not need you to do the powerpoint just the research.
