This is my rubric:
English 101 Section 33 Fall 2023 – Literacy Narrative Unit 1
Word requirement: 750-1250 words*
*Note: Word requirements are done for accreditation purposes. An English 101 class is required to have students write a certain amount of words.
Formatting requirements apply.
Basically, what you want to think of this paper as is a story about how you became literate in something, which just means how you learned to do something and to be good at it. No outside sources, no research, just you and what you know about something you know how to do. You’re going to tell me one story about your journey to becoming literate in something.
How the points will be allocated:
-
20 points: You tell me what you have literacy in during the first paragraph (10 points), and give me a little introduction into your story within the first paragraph as well (10 points).
-
5 points: The story told must explicitly connect to what you have literacy in.
-
50 points: You only focus on one story for the majority of your paper (25 points), and it has a beginning, a middle, and an end (25 points).
-
25 points: You include storytelling elements to make it more interesting.
Feedback will be given alongside your grade, and if you wish to rewrite this paper, you should look at why you had points removed in order to fix it. I will not be regrading papers or changing grades, full stop, unless I made a mathematical error.
