Hey I want to write about my experiences for my admission essay I will include some informationabout me:
I grew up in Germany, a diverse culture with new daily experiences and challenges. I moved a lot around in Germany and switched schools every 2-3 years, which was hard as a child to make friends, but after time, I got used to it. Ever since I can remember, my dream was to study in the USA. My dad and I had it all planned out. I would go and follow his path, study in New York, experience life, and make my own experiences. But it did not go as I planned. My parents got a nasty divorce in 2018, which really affected me mentally; I was the first to find out that my dad had cheated on my mom, which wasn’t in my favor. Ever since 2018, I felt increasingly drifted apart from my father, which makes me sad because we had such a close bond with each other growing up. July 2022 was the month that my life changed forever. During my High School final exams, my father and his girlfriend would not stop fighting, especially with me, over the littlest things; I finally had enough; I couldn’t deal with it mentally. After my dad moved in with his girlfriend, he did not support my dream anymore, my dream to study in New York just like he did. He wanted me to stay in Germany, study at Heidelberg University, and stay home with him and his girlfriend. But I knew deep down I couldn’t. I packed my bags, enrolled in a private college in the mountains, got an excellent scholarship, and knew that my dad would never be going to talk to me again, which happened in the end. He screamed at me over the phone, cut me off, and said he would never support me. I couldn’t believe I had taken the risk to move from Germany to make my dream come true without any support. I told him I planned to work and study, transfer to New York, and attend school there just like him. Sometimes, to follow your dreams, you must make detours to get on the right track. I’ve worked over 20 hours a week as a waitress while being a full-time student while having a GPA of 3.94, making it on the Deans list, and financing school all by myself. I would lie to myself if I said it was easy because it wasn’t, but it is my dream, and I knew I had to do it myself. To prove to everyone that I really want this and that I would never give up on following my dreams and to see my dad’s face when I get to tell him I got in, to hear him say I am proud of you finally, is everything.
