Select three characters from the works we have read, each from a different story, and define who or what “haunts” each one; then show what the consequences of that haunting are.

Topic: Each of the works we have read this semester contains one or more characters that are, in some way, “haunted.” These “hauntings” often define or contribute to each character’s crisis, triumph, or demise.

Select three characters from the works we have read, each from a different story, and define who or what “haunts” each one; then show what the consequences of that haunting are. Remember, you may only choose one character from any one work.

IMPORTANT: Connections among the characters’ hauntings are an important way in which you can demonstrate the critical thinking you bring to the organization/development of your essay. Do not just choose the characters randomly. Connect them in some way.

Requirements:

Remember that your paper must be an analysis. Format it according to MLA style. Avoid re-telling or summarizing the works you are examining.
2.) Develop the paragraphs of your essay by beginning each one with a clear, assertive, topic sentence that organizes the idea you will prove in that paragraph.

3.) Evidence to support your points must be drawn directly from the work in which each character appears, primarily in the form of direct quotations. No long quotations are allowed. You must have at least four in-text citations (in the form of quotations) for each character being examined. That means a minimum of 12 quotes.

4.) Your quotes must be documented with in-text citations and a Works Cited page, all using the MLA format.

5.) Failure to provide these quotations and the properly documented in-text citations, or to include long quotations, will result in a failing grade.

6.) Your finished paper must be at least 1,200 words
