Write a seven paragraph essay in traditional essay format using MLA format to cite evidence.

The first paragraph of the essay is an Introduction with a clear thesis statement; the last paragraph should be a conclusion that reiterates your main ideas and ends with a thought-provoking point. Each of the middle three paragraphs of the essay must contain one quote from the novel used at evidence to prove the thesis. Each quote must be cited properly in MLA format. ESSAY PROMPTS
Choose one or more of the following prompts and write an essay that is 7 paragraphs in length:
Writing About A Memoir NIGHT by Elie Wiesel Essential questions: What causes a person to change and what effects result from these changes? What experiences help us understand the human journey from inhumanity and suffering to redemption?
1. Dehumanization is the process by which the Nazis gradually reduced the Jews to little more than “things” which were a nuisance to them. Discuss at least three specific examples of events that occurred which dehumanized Eliezer, his father, or his fellow Jews.
2. After Eliezer’s father was beaten by Idek, a Kapo, Eliezer says, “I had watched the whole scene without moving. I kept quiet. In fact I was thinking of how to get farther away so that I would not be hit myself. What is more, any anger I felt at that moment was directed, not against the Kapo, but against my father. I was angry with him, for not knowing how to avoid Idek’s outbreak. That is what concentration camp life had made of me.” Discuss what the last line signifies. Discuss how his attitude had changed throughout the story. Give specific examples.
3. Discuss why you think the townspeople remained complacent despite the advance of the German army. How does this issue speak to the theme of Elie Wiesel’s novel and his life purpose after liberation from Auschwitz? You will need to do a little bit of research to answer this essay question, but I think you will enjoy it.
4. Discuss why Eliezer lied to Stein, his relative, about Stein’s family. Discuss whether or not you think he was morally right. In your essay explain what ethics are and how they contribute to being morally right.
5. Discuss the significance of “night” in the novel. Cite examples from the story to support your answer. When and how does Elie mention night? Is this a fitting title for the story? Why or why not? How does the title relate to theme?
