In chapter one of Pedagogy of the Oppressed (attached below), Brazilian educator Paulo Freire asserts that while we may actively seek our freedom beyond instutional obstacles like colonization and dictatorships, there are also internal obstacles that prevent us from being free. In your response of at least 350 words, explain Freire’s notion of “fear of freedom” and how it is embodied by the oppressor in a different way than by the oppressed. In addition, explain whether you think “fear of freedom” is a way of blaming the oppressed for their situation or a hard truth that can lead to liberation? Make sure to cite Freire in your response.
