All organizations have a Mission and most often that mission is stated. The manager must guide the staff, over which they have management duties, to that mission.

1. Go to the facility website listed above and locate the Mission Statement for the facility. It may not specifically state that it is the mission, so you may have to deduce. Look around the web site e.g. About us
2. Every facility that is funded using Medicare or Medicaid funds is reviewed by the Federal Government to allow patients and families to advocate for and make good choices for their care.
   1. Go to this government website. Find Healthcare Providers: Compare Care Near You | Medicare
   2. Select the type of facility from the left menu.
   3. Enter the address and name of the above facility.
   4. Click on the facility and review the government information for the facility listed above.
3. Click on View Quality Measure and then click on the down arrow to view the Short Term and Long-Term measures.

• State the Mission for the above facility.
• Select one parameter from the Quality Measure Ratings in which the facility is meeting the Mission of the organization by scoring greater than the national or state standard. DISCUSS, in detail, how this measurement and function has a positive impact on the patients and how that function supports the Mission of the facility.
• Select one parameter from the Quality Measures Ratings in which the facility is NOT meeting the Mission of the organization by scoring less than the national or state standard. DISCUSS, in detail, how this measurement and function has a negative impact on the patients and how that function does not support the Mission of the facility.
• As a newly hired Manager of this facility, you have the responsibility to manage and to support the continuation of the functions that the facility scored well on and to improve on those function where the facility did not meet the mission. Discuss in detail, two ways/modalities of communication that you will use to communicate with your staff and WHY you think that will be the most effective means of communication as a means of accomplishing the Mission.
